A few days ago, two very dear friends nominated me for the Sisterhood of the World Blogger Award. Thank you so much Sylviane Nuccio, from SylvianeNuccio.com and Sue Price from SueJPrice.com for awarding me with the Sisterhood of the World Bloggers Award (sorry guys it’s a chick thing). Both women were so sweet to think of me and of course I want to give back as well.

Here are 7 Random things about me:

Burney Falls

I have visited almost every National Park in Northern California. Road trips are a standard in my house and we love just pulling out a map and go. We love exploring small towns, and back roads in Northern California. My favorite small town is Burney, CA. Burney is home to MacArthur Park which houses an amazing waterfall that you have to hike down to. If I could work from home, this would be the town I would live in.

Douglas Fairbanks Jr

I love watching old Black and White Movies. I am an avid movie watcher, but my favorite era is the 1930′s and 1940′s. I am a huge Douglas Fairbanks Jr fan (he as smoking cute) and I have an autographed photo card from him too before he passed away. Its something I cherish and value.
I love taking Naps on Sunday Afternoons with my Dog. I am a nap lover and believe in catching up my sleep. I tend to blog mostly in the wee hours of the morning or very late at night and the weekends is where I play catch-up. My puppy loves it too and always joins me nap for 2 1/2 hours on a quiet Sunday afternoon. It’s those moments I cherish with my dog.

Metallica Concert

I listen to Heavy Metal Music. When I was growing up, I was the only black person in high school that hung out with the “stoners” and no, I didn’t smoke. My favorite concerts I attended were Metallica, Motley Crue, Whitesnake and Guns n Roses. I never got any funny looks and everyone was always so cool at each concert. These days, concerts cost too much and I only listen to Heavy Metal from the 80′s only.

My favorite food is Shrimp – All you have to do is mention this and you have my attention. I will eat shrimp anyway you cook it, but my favorite is Coconut Shrimp from Red Lobster (west coast chain).

I dreamed of working in the Record Industry as an A/R Rep. When I was growing up I worked for many record stores and mingled with tons of music executives over the years. This led to backstage passes and see what “Groupies” really did behind closed doors. Let’s just say the ugly side of it made me think twice and I am happy where I ended up today.

I love to Travel, but get homesick real quick – I love to travel, visit new places and explore new destinations. What I don’t like is traveling without my best friend (my man) and not exploring new places with him. I love getting on a plane to see something new, but days later, I am ready go home. I love my state (when it’s not broke, bankrupt and expensive), seeing the mountains, feeling the cool air and baking in the dry heat (ha ha..no humidity here!), but at the end of the day…it’s always good to come home.

That’s my 7 Random tidbits.

Congratulations Sonia! You’re very deserving of this award young lady! I love how it’s being passed around to so many awesome ladies!

You love heavy metal? I would have never thought that but hey, I love good old rock-n-roll myself.. Yeah, I grew up in the 70′s ya know!

By the way, I love shrimp too.. Fried all the way baby!!! I don’t care if it’s good for you or not, I love love love it.

That’s what I enjoy about these awards, getting to know more about you. Thanks for giving us more scoop on things we didn’t know about you, how fun.

Now you’ve chosen some lucky ladies so I hope they’ll graciously accept this award as well. I’m sure they’ll do it justice.

  Yeah, I am still a metal head, but not like I use to be. I am more tame these days, but I only listen to the 8o’s part of it. Stuff out today I can’t say who its from and I probably wouldn’t even recognize Metallica if I heard it. Well, maybe I would…Love James Hetfield. Plus they all live in the bay area (2hrs away) so I have to support my home town band. I was glad to nominate you and you deserved it too. What you do for animals has my vote.

I have a great memory of seeing Metallica in concert with my brother. So much fun! I used to hang out in the fan forums too.

  Ahhh…Love Metallica still. I remember seeing them in concert for the first time and couldn’t believe how many fans were in the stadium. I think them, Aerosmith and KISS are the only ones that could sell out an arena. I miss the good ole days of the 80′s and no I haven’t been to the Garden of the Gods. Do you live in Colorado? I am coming to Denver in Sept for work..lets hook up and have lunch. Those were good years. You are very welcome Susan for the nomination.

Hi Sonia, Congrats! You are well deserving of recognition!
I enjoyed what you wrote about yourself. I think this is the best part of the “Sisterhood” – we find out more about each other.
Wow…I love shrimp too, but it does not love me..he he. I am also crazy about old black and white movies. I love dialogue and the actors were more talented then (in my humble opinion).

I also like spontaneous road trips. Pull the map and go is one of the things I do too.

Reading this about you was a wonderful experience because we are similar in many ways…in the 3 D world!

  See this is what I like about stuff like this, you get to know something you DIDN”T know about another blogger just by sharing a few tidbits. I have this love affair with Shrimp and I love eating it. Now, I am not keen on sharing and always tell my friends to order their own when we eat out, so be forewarned…LOL! I think I watch TCM all the time for the old movies they play 24×7 and believe it or not, I just saw Gone With The Wind for the first time 4 months ago. I just love that film. I like the nap idea, the black and white movie thing is cool too. I like cheesy old westerns. HA! I use to watch them with my dad growing up and I just got hooked on them.

I love the waterfall park, next time I’m out west before I make the plans for to do’s on the trip, I will have to get the 411 on where this place is!

Congrats AND Thank You!!! I feel I am part of something bigger than me now!

I think it is so cool that you have been to almost all the National Parks in NorCal. I want to do that. I am huge explorer, sometimes to the point I bore the hell out of my family by going places they rather not. But I just feel this urge to see things, boring or not. And there is always something to learn.

And heavy metal, really? I never pegged you as a metal head. It’s just that your photo doesn’t show it, lol. But it’s all cool.

  Yeah I was a metal head. Stoner no, but I loved the music. I can’t fathom the music today and tend to listen to the old stuff. I am still stuck in the 80′s for SURE! Exploring, I got that from my man. He loves going down roads less traveled and that is how I ended up visiting most parks. We love pulling out a map and seeing where the road goes. Of course I always make sure we have enough gas and pray there are no crazy people around the corner. For the most, it’s been fun and I can’t wait to hit the road soon. Thanks Allie, one of these days we will meet up for lunch..NEIGHBOR!
