Creating a presence online isn’t hard these days. Mostly it’s just finding alternate options that won’t break the bank. If you could afford to pay someone to customize your Facebook page, then you are on your way, but what if you could add things yourself?
There are so many options on how to add pages and create buttons to give it that professional look, but do you really understand how to make it all work? The other day I was taught a really cool trick that you could use and I wanted to share it with you. In this post, I will show you how to customize your “Welcome” page with your own blog posts or content.
What is a welcome page? A welcome page is a great place to introduce people to your website that might not have visited it before and the valuable information they will learn from you. You could offer a product or service or add useful content to help your fans.
These examples all have a great Welcome page that introduces their company to you. What they offer, services they provide and why you should “LIKE” their page. The cool part about a Welcome page is that it can be whatever you like. You can create something with PicMonkey, iPiccy and Adobe Photoshop to make it look pretty, but this cool idea I got from (Hat Tip: Amy Porterfield) allows you customize any tab and make it what you want it to be.

Sylviane Nuccio
Hi Sonia,
Sounds very cool and something I need to do, but I think that it will take me a few watch in order to do this?
How did you learn all that?

Hi Sylviane, I learned it from Amy Porterfield. I said her name wrong in the video (sorry Amy). I purchased her Facebook Influence program and it was a cool tip she shared with us. I didn’t even know you could do that and I had to share that information with everyone.

I was thinking (based on what I heard so far) that your About page on your site would be a great Welcome page. What do you think?

I was thinking the same thing too. Right now I am redoing the entire page, so at the moment I am in shambles, but I will make sure that its added for sure. Thanks girl!

Adrienne
That’s pretty cool Sonia so thanks for walking us through how to do that.
I actually joined this program upon the recommendation of Ileane but couldn’t for the life of me figure out how to create a “tab” for my page so I just dumped the site. When something is to confusing for me and I can’t find any instructions then I just move on.
Your explanation is perfect. I wish there was an app we could purchase that would do this instead of having to do a monthly fee. Oh well, it’s still really cool.
Thanks again, great video.

Hi Adrienne, yeah I know what you mean. You almost have to host your tabs all over the place to save $$ these days. The monthly fees on some of these are quite expensive if you ask me. If you create something on your tabs, make sure you share it so I can see it. This would be a great post for your site….hint hint..

Yeah Sonia, that’s the only reason I haven’t gone that route yet. My goodness gracious sakes.
Yeah, if I find a great deal and learn how to do it you bet I’ll be sharing that post. If you find one first you better let me know.
Thanks Sonia, you’re the best.

This is absolutely great! I haven’t perfected it yet, but I will play with it for a while. I have sidebars on the left side that I don’t know how to crop. Hopefully, I can figure it out soon.
Thanks, again, Sonia, for enhancing my site!

There are some great apps there to add to the page. I like the fan of the week one the best. Giveaway one is nice too. I will have to watch it again and see if it is something I could do especially for the retail sites pages I do. Thanks for sharing Sonia!

Thanks Sonia for showing us how to do this. For me personally, when I come up with my new plan of what tabs I want, I need to hire someone to do it.

It takes me so much time to stuff like this and I always have a knack to screw it up.
I have learned my lesson on my own blog. Yikes…I installed a simple plug in and broke my blog once.
This info was great for me because when I do get my act together, I have to knowledge to tell the person doing it what I want.
You come up with the most niftiest things!

Hi Donna, this is what I mean. There is so much stuff out there and no one just explains stuff in plain “english” where its easier for everyone to understand. When I relaunch my blog, that is something I am going to do more of because I can see the value in it myself and it frustrates the hell out of me when I see people trying to understand “code”.

Hi Sonia
Thanks for this post as I need to do something with my pages. I have two and they had landing pages in the old system and I have not addressed what to do now.
I am like Donna. When I know what I want to do I will pay someone to do it. This stuff does my head in. I really admire people like you who can do it so easily.
Thanks

I’m using Lujure extensively on all the Facebook pages that I manage. I’m growing my email list on my page. I used it to take orders on the JustRetweet page and best of all I use it to get new members for the page I have for my job. I just pulled in the whole membership application right into FB and it works like a charm! Amy turned me on to Lujure too. She rocks.
Thanks for the tutorial Sonia. Great video!

Awesome tip Sonia.
I have been creating tabs on Facebook for several of my clients by using Pagemodo, but I haven’t done it for my own Page yet. And not with my blog posts
It’s time to start doing it myself as well.
Thanks.

Hi Sonia,
I was using Static HTML to create tabs on my page but it’s not easy as the one you used to create here. You know, HTML code and links were used there. Everything is quite simpler as I just witnessed on your video
Cool Sonia…
And one thing, as I feel, you are doing great with videos
No doubts and easy to follow with live demonstration, but at your end it takes time I guess.
Cheers…

Hi Mayura, I am so glad you enjoy the videos. When I started blogging and I wanted to learn something, I would hate when developers explained things in only terms they can understand. What value does a beginner or intermediate user find in that? I like things explained in “lame” terms so at least when I walk away I can go back and apply it to my own site. I am having fun with the videos and plan to make a ton more. Just finding the time and keeping my doggies quiet isn’t always so easy. Ha Ha! Thank you Mayura for your support as always.

Great tutorial Sonia…thank you for the clear explanation. I have used Lujure a little before but struggled to put together anything vaguely professional looking. I did not realise how easy it would be to import an entire page. And I love the idea of using a blog post with an opt-in as your welcome page. Such a simple way to create a tab on your FB Page. Thank you for sharing.

Welcome Louise! That’s probably the problem to be honest with apps like that. They don’t really provide enough tutorials for people to really use their products to see the value in it. I love buying products from companies that go the extra mile to show me how to use their product. When you create something with your FB page, comment back with the link so I can check it out. Thank you so much for reading my post and leaving your comment.

I’m definitely a fan of Amy Porterfield too. She explains things very simply. I’ve been to about a million of her webinars. (at least!) I wonder how successful those welcome tabs are, now that you can’t make them the default landing page. I guess if they’re really good people will visit them. Honestly it’s just one more thing I have to add to my day that I haven’t put on the top of the priority list. But it’s a good idea and why not take advantage of all the tools we have, right?

Hi Carol! I agree, how simple that idea is and its so unique to your own Facebook page because no one can copy that and it really is all your own. The only problem is that you get 1 free page. I think Lujure makes it work best, but it’s not cheap once you go past 1 app. Let me know if you create something so I can see it.

All great information Sonia. I think I would get frustrated trying to figure it out. Some people just don’t have the patience (I admit that means me) to learn detailed concepts like this, but they are more and more necessary in the new digital age of marketing. Thanks, Suzanne

Yes, I’m wishing that I could have cool boxes/squares under my timeline photo to the right of the photo box (that I know is fixed) for my ezine sign up, my blog, my events, video, etc. I like them to be stylized similarly like we see on all the examples above. Many thanks!

That’s pretty cool! Atleast now I don’t have to spend money on getting someone else making these tabs for me. Also, when someone else makes it for me, I feel it hasn’t turned out as I wanted. I’m definitely going to learn how to do this so that I can create what I visualize instead of settling for someone else’s creativity.
Annie Andre
HOLY @$%@#$%@#$%@#$% that was so easy.
I loved your explanation girl…. You did a great job.
The best part is that all those optin boxes and the tweet buttons still work. That’s amazing..
I have two questions. Do you know if it works for personal pages? I have purposely gone the route of not creating a facebook fan page but rather use a personal page.
The second is what program are you using to share your screen? Just wondering?
