Now that Facebook has made it easier to personalize your Timeline covers, do you know all the options available? Most people don’t have access to photo programs like Photoshop and hiring a designer (no offense) might be out of reach in this economy. Luckily, there are some unique programs out there to help you customize your own Timeline Covers with ease.
Best part…most are FREE.
Recently I was introduced to Statigram, the web version of Instagram. If you have an iPhone or iPod Touch you can use Instagram to upload photos to create a collage. The cool part about this option is that you use your own photos to create a unique collage. No one can copy your photos and it will only create a collage based on what you have uploaded.
Pro’s – it creates photos that only you upload. You can get creative up to 50 photos and make a collage about Social Media with icons and other fun stuff to showcase your brand. Or you can upload all your fans and create a personalized thank you.
Cons – each time you create a new cover the positioning of all photos change. Due to load limits you can only generate only one new cover per hour.
Pro’s – You can add your own images from your computer and place them any where in the layout. You can also add more images to a collage and remove the spacing in the background to have a cleaner look.
Cons – You can’t add images over background photos.
This fun option takes making covers a bit further. Have you ever uploaded a background image and wanted to add different photos on top of it? Timeline Cover banner allows you to upload photos on top of your background and move it to any place. They have over 50+ background images to use for inspiration or you can upload your own images.

Thank you so much for this post! I’ve been trying to figure out how to spice up my cover for my facebook pages since the ones I have now are a little “blah.” I can’t wait to try some of these out!

These are some awesome tools, Sonia
Thank you for sharing!
I just created mine out of Photoshop: A simple grunge background with some text (P.S: I liked your new FB cover! It is awesome).
I think I need to experiment a bit with these tools – let’s give them a try and see how it goes

Thanks Jeevan, It took me forever to finish this post this morning, but I wanted everyone to understand how to use it if anyone out there wasn’t that “savvy”. Hopefully it helps those that can’t afford a professional one, but with some creativity, anyone can create anything.

I use PicMonkey for everything. How about this… I didn’t realize the FB cover feature was for Facebook! And here I’ve been struggling to get my sizing correct! I’m going to redo it when I get home.
thanks

PicMonkey is awesome and I do all my personal FB covers from them period, but in regards to my FB Fan page, I use other programs because I can’t add stuff on top of backgrounds using PicMonkey. When you create something send it over so I can see it.

Those are just cool Sonia, thanks so much for taking the time to put this together. Wow!
I’ve got the dimensions down and am so use to creating my own now. Nothing fancy of course since I would just resize it and dump my photos in there but I still have fun with it.
Those are some cool programs though so I do love to learn new things. Thanks so much for sharing.
Enjoy your week.

Hi Adrienne! Someone asked me how I did mine a while back and thought I would put together a short tutorial on how to make one. These are so fun and I really love creating different banners all the time. My persona FB page is made with PicMonkey only because I can add and remove what I don’t need. I like the cover photos you create too. The one you did with the old pictures came out perfect. Was that your parents?

Sonia, is this option just for iPhone users? I will have to check it out with my Droid to see. Love the new cover you did yesterday. If not for Droid I may play with my Photoshop. Thanks Sonia for the inspiration with these covers!

The app for Instagram I think is for iPhone, but I use my iPod for it. I am still on Blackberry (ugh!!) so I am not sure about Android yet. Timeline Cover let you move things around and I got stuck playing with it for hours trying all kinds of stuff. It made it so much easier to add what I needed on each photo.

Thank you so much for this post. I had no idea about these applications and for someone with no graphic design skills I will sick of shabby facebook covers. Thanks from your new liker.

Glad you liked it. I know there is always going to be someone out there with no designers skills (me included) so its nice having some programs out there to use to help make it “look” that way at least.

Hi Sonia,
Nice set of tools here for those of us who are graphically challenged. I’m using a different tool called Timeline Slicer. It’s all drag and drop and if you want some extra templates or the ability to save your work – get the Pro version for $5! It also comes with all kinds of background graphics and you can move things around where ever you want! I love all the fun covers I’ve been able to create with Timeline Slicer Pro. Thanks for the post Sonia!

I did use Powerpoint for all. It has some really great effects and I like the way it works. I know Photoshop stuff, but still prefer being simple

Hi Sonia,
I have to confess. I have never heard of any of the programs you mention, but they look really interesting and I’ll be sure to test a few, especially for my clients.
I’ve been using pagemodo and I’ve added the cover myself. Edited it via photoshop

I love Pagemodo, but not their price. It’s a program I still highly recommend, but for those on a tight budget, there are some awesome options. There is so much stuff online these days, that you can get almost anything for free. Some with a catch, but others seem to work just fine. Let me know how it works out for some of your clients.

What is an Android phone?
I have never adorned my facebook page. I in fact like it the way it is originally designed. you remember how awkward and pathetic those self designed myspace pages looked. that was a lesson.
